MP Cough Syrup Director Arrested: Madhya Pradesh Police has taken major action in the case of death of children due to cough syrup. The owner of Shrisan Pharma, a poisonous drug manufacturing company, has been arrested.
MP Cough Syrup Director Arrested : Taking major action in the case of death of children due to cough syrup in Madhya Pradesh, the owner of Coldrif cough syrup manufacturing company Shrisan Pharma has been arrested. Police SIT has arrested Ranganathan from Chennai. Ranganathan was being searched for many days in the case of deaths due to cough syrup, after which the police got a big success. A reward was also announced on him. Madhya Pradesh Police arrested Ranganathan with the help of Chennai Police.
The reward was worth this much rupees
Chhindwara Police had announced a reward of Rs 20,000 on the arrest of Ranganathan. Deputy Inspector General of Police Chhindwara Range Rakesh Kumar Singh had announced a reward of Rs 20,000 for anyone providing information about the absconding accused of the drug manufacturing company.
SIT of MP Police is investigating
Let us tell you here that the 7-member SIT of Madhya Pradesh Police had investigated the company’s registered office in Chennai and its factory in Kanchipuram. The Tamil Nadu government has also sealed the plant of a company producing banned cough syrup Coldrif, which was linked to the death of children in Madhya Pradesh, and has also issued a second show cause notice to the company and warned of criminal action.

20 children died
It is noteworthy that about 20 children had died after drinking this poisonous cough syrup. Many states including Kerala and Madhya Pradesh have also banned it. The Tamil Nadu government had banned the sale of ‘Coldrif’ cough syrup from October 1 and ordered the removal of the stock of the medicine from the market. Madhya Pradesh Police’s SIT had reached Chennai 3 days ago to investigate this case.
Cough syrup was found to be a dangerous chemical
It is noteworthy that 46.2 percent diethylene glycol (DEG) was found in Coldrif cough syrup. Diethylene glycol (DEG) is a poisonous chemical. Its consumption becomes the main cause of kidney failure. This cough syrup, manufactured by Srisan Pharmaceuticals, was being sold as a treatment for common cold and cough for children.
