India-Britain Relation : British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is on a visit to India and here he met the Indian delegation. During this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Thursday that India and Britain are natural. Partnership between the two is becoming an important basis for global stability and economic progress. A detailed discussion took place with British Prime Minister Starmer who was visiting India. PM Modi said that the foundation of India-UK relations is the shared belief in values like democracy, freedom and rule of law. Apart from this, in the joint briefing, Starmer said that India-UK relations are special.
Peace should be restored through dialogue
Describing India’s development story as remarkable, he said that we are building a new modern partnership focused on the future. On this occasion, PM Modi said that India and Britain have reached an agreement on cooperation in military training. At the same time, we are fully committed to increasing maritime security cooperation with Britain in the Indo-Pacific region. On Ukraine conflict and Gaza issue, he said that India supports all efforts to restore peace through dialogue and diplomacy. The two leaders held talks with a broad focus on promoting India-UK relations in trade, defense and security and key technology sectors.
Bilateral trade expected to double
A delegation of 125 of Britain’s most prominent business leaders, entrepreneurs and academics arrived in Mumbai on Wednesday morning on a two-day visit. Starmer’s visit to India comes two and a half months after the two countries signed a historic free trade agreement that will expand market access. Besides, there will be reduction in tariffs and bilateral trade is expected to double by 2030. This trade agreement was decided during Prime Minister Modi’s visit to London in July.
Decision to strengthen technology, security partnerships
Prime Minister Keir Starmer, while addressing the press conference, said that UK and India are leading in the field of technology and innovation. In this direction, both our countries decided to strengthen these two sectors. One more thing has been included in this, in which areas like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Advanced Communication, Defense Technology have also been included. Apart from this, he visited film studios and is now announcing an important agreement for the production of Bollywood films in the UK.
