BJP accused Mamata of instigating riots

BJP-TMC: Mamata had alleged that the Commission officials were threatening her government officials even before the announcement of the assembly election dates and were working under political influence.

BJP-TMC: The BJP on Friday criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s remarks on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list. BJP accused Mamata of threatening riots and violence in the state if the Election Commission starts this process. This incident happened a day after Mamata Banerjee launched a scathing attack on the Election Commission. Mamta had alleged that the Commission officials were threatening her government officials even before the announcement of the assembly election dates and were working under political influence. He also said that BJP is playing with fire in the name of amendment in the voter list. Warned that any attempt to tamper with the voter list would amount to betrayal of democracy. BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra reacted sharply and said that the way Banerjee has commented on the special intensive review is shocking and a matter of concern.

SIR accused of inciting riots

The BJP MP told reporters here that Mamata said that if special intensive review is done then there will be riots in Bengal and many other consequences which will be catastrophic. This means that Mamata ji is threatening that if any constitutional process starts in Bengal, she will instigate riots and it will have dire consequences. Patra termed Banerjee’s remarks as irresponsible and asked her whether she considered herself above the Constitution and whether she could take the law into her own hands, going to the extent of inciting riots and bloodshed in the state for the votes of illegal Bangladeshi and Rohingya infiltrators, who are not entitled to contest elections in India.

Questions raised on TMC’s morality

He said that Mamata Banerjee, it is your arrogance that you consider yourself above the Constitution of India and the judicial system of the country. Remember, you cannot be bigger than Baba Saheb Ambedkar’s Constitution, no matter how many times you have been Chief Minister or Prime Minister. Patra alleged that Banerjee had recently instigated riots in West Bengal by attacking BJP leaders, including the party’s tribal MP Khagen Murmu. He claimed that you have started the riot, we will stop it democratically. TMC will lose and BJP will win. Another BJP national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi termed Banerjee’s comment as dangerous and said it raises questions on the morality and constitutionality of the ruling TMC.
