Nirbhaya Fund: The central government is running various schemes to empower women in the country. In this context, the Women and Child Development Minister said that 56 percent of the legally adopted children in the country are girls.

Nirbhaya Fund: Women and Child Development Minister Annapurna Devi said on Saturday that with the help of Nirbhaya Fund, 854 one-stop centers for women have been built across India. The objective of these centers is to provide shelter, counselling, medical aid and legal aid to the victimized women. She was addressing the two-day National Annual Stakeholder Consultation on ‘Safety of the Girl Child: Towards a Safe and Enabling Environment for them in India’, organized by the Juvenile Justice Committee of the Supreme Court in collaboration with UNICEF India. The event was held on the occasion of International Day of the Girl, which the Minister said made the discussion particularly meaningful.

56 percent of adopted children are girls

Speaking in the program, Annapurna Devi said that last year, 56 percent of the children taken legally in India were girls, which indicates a change in social attitude. He said that now girls are not considered a burden in the society, but are seen as a ray of hope. The Minister said that women’s safety plays a big role in making India self-reliant through initiatives like women’s helpline 181, women’s help desk in police stations, hostels for working women and Shakti Sadhan. Addressing everyone, he said that this is not just a policy discussion but a living example of the future of our country, our social consciousness and our moral responsibility. To make developed India by 2047

The minister said that the basis of Prime Minister Narendra’s developed India by 2047 is to include women power. The integrated approach of the government through Mission Shakti, Mission Vatsalya and Mission Poshan 2.0 aims to advance the safety, empowerment and self-reliance of women. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India started many schemes for the safety and empowerment of girls and now many steps are being considered to strengthen them in every field. The first priority in every scheme of our government is to empower women. He further said that the government aims to create a strong future for women by providing them digital and financial literacy, self-defense training and life skills education.
