Pakistan-Afghanistan Peace Talk Failed: The peace talks that have been going on between Pakistan and Afghanistan for four days have now failed. Pakistan’s Information Minister said on Wednesday morning that peace talks between Pakistan and Afghanistan in Istanbul have failed. This talk took place after an earlier round in Doha. Pakistan accuses the Taliban of harboring terrorists linked to the increase in attacks, while Kabul denies that its territory is being used against Pakistan.
Information Minister gave information
Pakistan’s Information Minister Ataullah Tarar said on social media platform X that despite the mediation of Qatar and Türkiye, the talks failed to find any practical solution. Tarar said that Pakistan gave a chance to peace at the request of brotherly countries like Qatar and Turkey and held talks with the Afghan Taliban government first in Doha and then in Istanbul. He accused the Taliban of being indifferent to Pakistan’s losses, while Pakistan has always wished for, advocated for, and made immense sacrifices for the peace and prosperity of the people of Afghanistan.
Tarar said Pakistan was grateful to Qatar and Turkey for facilitating the talks, which were part of a broader diplomatic effort to defuse months of heightened tension between Islamabad and Kabul. He said that “the Taliban regime bears no responsibility towards the people of Afghanistan and thrives on the war economy, so it wants to drag and trap the Afghan people into an unnecessary war.”
Pakistan’s warning to Taliban
Tarar said Pakistan’s patience has run out and warned that Islamabad will continue to take all possible steps to protect its people from the threat of terrorism. Earlier on Tuesday, three Pakistani security officials with direct knowledge of the talks said that the deadlock in the talks in Istanbul has arisen because Kabul is not ready to accept the demand for an assurance that Afghan soil will not be used against Pakistan.
Both accused each other
According to Pakistani officials, the Taliban delegation was not completely ready to accept Pakistan’s proposals and kept taking guidance from Kabul before taking decisions. Afghanistan-controlled media RTA also made similar allegations on the Pakistani side and said that Kabul tried its best to hold constructive talks, but it seems that the Pakistani side has no such intention.
