Maharashtra Politics : In Maharashtra, there has been a political uproar over the cancellation of the advocacy license of senior lawyer Aseem Sarode for three months. Now former Chief Minister and Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray has also entered on this issue and he has supported advocate Aseem Sarode. Thackeray alleged that efforts were being made to suppress dissent and impose a kind of slavery on the citizens. The matter is that Aseem Sarode had made remarks against the then Maharashtra State and Assembly Speaker, after which the Bar Council took this action. The council said that the advocate had committed professional misconduct, which he denied.
We will have to struggle for truth: Thackeray
Uddhav Thackeray said that this is a conspiracy to make people obedient. At present we will have to struggle for truth in India. We all freedom loving citizens stand firmly with Asim. Taking aim at the central government, he said that the present government considers any voice raised against it as anti-national and such a tendency takes the government far away from democracy. Thackeray said that insulting Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Mahatma Jyotirao Phule is forgivable? Even when the Supreme Court criticizes the government, no one speaks. But speaking against injustice and exposing the truth is considered a crime.
Action taken after complaint
This action against Sarode has been taken after a complaint was filed by a person named Rajesh Dabholkar. According to the complaint, this Pune lawyer had made serious allegations against the Indian justice system, the Speaker of the State Assembly and the then Governor of Maharashtra in his speech during an event in Mumbai in March last year. Now the Bar Council’s disciplinary committee said Sarode’s comments have clearly undermined the authority of the judiciary, giving the impression that the judicial system is under duress and compromised. Also there is corruption in the judiciary.
