Sathya Sai Baba: In celebration of the birth centenary of Sathya Sai Baba, Modi also released a coin and a set of postage stamps in the memory of the Guru.
Sathya Sai Baba: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday paid homage to spiritual guru Sri Sathya Sai Baba in Puttaparthi, Andhra Pradesh, saying that his teachings and service will continue to guide millions of followers across the world. On the birth centenary celebrations of Satya Sai Baba, Modi also released a coin and a set of postage stamps in the Guru’s memory. Modi said that the centenary celebration of Sri Sathya Sai Baba is not just a celebration but a divine blessing. Although Sai Baba is not physically with us, his spirit of love and service is the guiding force for millions of people. He said that millions of devotees of Sathya Sai Baba in 140 countries are getting new light, direction and are moving forward. Sri Sathya Sai Baba considered service as the root of human life.
Emphasis on ‘Local for Vocal’
Modi said the spiritual guru’s birth centenary became a celebration of universal love, peace and service. Modi also said that the central value of Indian civilization is service and service. He said that all our diverse spiritual and philosophical traditions ultimately lead to this one idea, whether one follows the path of devotion, knowledge or karma. Referring to various social security schemes of his government for the welfare of the poor, he said that these are now being discussed in international forums. Apart from this, laying emphasis on ‘Local for Vocal’, he said that this will help the country in becoming a developed India. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust Managing Trustee RJ Ratnakar and others participated.
Tribute paid to Satya Sai Baba
Modi paid tribute to Satya Sai Baba on his Mahasamadhi here. The Prime Minister was given Vedic blessings by the priests. To mark the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday also released a commemorative coin of Rs 100 and a set of postage stamps dedicated to the life, teachings and legacy of late spiritual guru Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Modi participated in the birth centenary celebrations of Sai Baba in Sri Satyasai district. During the ceremony, Modi paid tribute to Sai Baba on his Mahasamadhi here and bowed to him. The priests also gave Vedic blessings to Modi. Many people including Union Ministers G Kishan Reddy and K Ram Mohan Naidu were present on this occasion.
