West Bengal News: CM Mamata Banerjee accused the Election Commission of imposing SIR on officials and citizens without basic preparation, proper planning or clear communication.

West Bengal News : After Bihar, the Election Commission has announced to conduct Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in 12 union territories and states of the country. In this context, SIR is to be held in West Bengal also and assembly elections are also to be held there early next year. Meanwhile, state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wrote a strongly worded letter to CEC Gyanesh Kumar on Thursday. He urged the EC to stop this work immediately. The Chief Minister claimed that it was unorganized, coercive and dangerous. Mamata Banerjee said that she has repeatedly expressed concern over the ongoing SIR of voter list in the state.

It is impossible for BLO to meet voters

CM Mamata Banerjee accused the Election Commission of imposing SIR on officials and citizens without basic preparation, proper planning or clear communication. He claimed that the entire work was not structurally sound due to major deficiencies in training, confusion regarding documents and the impossibility of BLOs meeting voters during working hours. He asked the CEC to intervene to stop this ongoing effort and not to take coercive steps. Also work on providing proper training and support. He further wrote in the letter that if this problem is not fixed in time, then the citizens will face such consequences which will be very difficult to change.

Concern expressed regarding server failure

The three-page letter written by the Chief Minister was the strongest till date, in which he has shown a serious picture of booth-level officers who are far away from the limits of citizens. He said that I have full hope that many teachers and frontline workers will conduct door-to-door surveys. Will also handle difficult e-submissions and also said that most of the people are struggling in filling the online forms due to lack of training, server failure and frequent data mismatch. Mamata Banerjee warned that this would result in an impending breakdown. Banerjee further said that at this pace it is almost certain that voter data will not be uploaded with the required accuracy in many constituencies by December 4.
