What is the importance of flag hoisting?
Flag hoisting has been explained in detail in Ramcharitmanas. The peak of the temple is the highest part of the entire temple. Here the divine energy enters first. Why is Ram Mandir flag hoisting special?
This flag to be hoisted in the Ram temple in Ayodhya will wave at a height of 191 feet. Hoisting this flag is not only a symbol of reverence for Lord Shri Ram, but also a proud memory of the Suryavanshi and Raghukul traditions of Ayodhya. The flag to be hoisted on the Ram temple will be weather-proof. This flag will be 22 feet long and 11 feet wide. Its weight will be approximately 2.5 kg. The color of the flag to be hoisted on the top of Ram temple will be saffron. In Hindu religion, saffron color is considered a symbol of sacrifice, penance and energy. This flag will have three symbols – Om, Surya and Kovidar tree. The sun on the flag is a symbol of the Suryavanshi tradition of Lord Rama. There is mention of Kovidar tree in Valmiki Ramayana. There will also be a chakra in the flag hoisted over the Ram temple. The flags of all the seven temples in the Ram temple complex will be triangular, with only ‘Om’ symbol on them and they will be smaller than the flag of the main temple.
