Vladimir Putin India Visit: Russian President Vladimir Putin is coming to India today after four years. Putin will be in India on 4th and 5th December, for which special preparations have been made. This visit of the Russian President to India is special in many ways. Many strategic and economic deals can be made between India and Russia during the two-day visit. President Patin’s plane will land in Delhi today at 4:30 pm. Earlier, Putin had come to India in 2021.

Will have dinner with PM Modi

The Russian President is expected to reach New Delhi around 4:30 pm on Thursday. A few hours later, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will host a private dinner for Putin. This dinner will take place a few hours after reaching New Delhi. Expanding defense ties, protecting bilateral trade from external pressure and the possibility of cooperation in small modular reactors will be the focus of summit talks between Modi and Putin on Friday, which are expected to be closely watched by Western countries.

How will Putin’s schedule be?

Putin will be formally welcomed at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Friday morning. Putin will also visit Rajghat in the morning and pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. After this, the 23rd India-Russia summit meeting will be held at Hyderabad House. In the afternoon, Prime Minister Modi will host Putin and his delegation for lunch at Hyderabad House. After this, at 4 pm both the leaders will go to Bharat Mandapam, where they will address the India-Russia Business Forum. After the summit, Putin will launch the new India channel of Russian state broadcaster RT and finally attend a state banquet hosted in his honor by President Draupadi Murmu. After this Putin will leave for Russia at night.

Su-57 and S-400 will be discussed

The Russian President’s visit to India is taking place at a time when India-US relations are probably going through their worst phase in the last two decades after Washington imposed a heavy 50 percent tariff on Indian goods. Ahead of the summit, the defense ministers of the two countries will hold large-scale talks on Thursday, which are likely to focus on India’s plan to buy more batches of S-400 missile systems and other critical military hardware from Russia. S-400 missile systems proved to be very effective during Operation Sindoor. Along with this, there can be discussion on supplying Su-57 fighter jet by Russia to India. India is in the process of purchasing a batch of fifth generation fighter jets. Dassault Aviation’s Rafale, Lockheed Martin’s F-21, Boeing’s F/A-18 and Eurofighter Typhoon are included in this batch.

India-Russia summit takes place every year

Every year there is a summit meeting between India and Russia to review all aspects of relations, for which President Putin is coming to India. So far, 22 annual meetings have taken place between India and Russia. The Russian President last visited New Delhi in 2021. In July last year, PM Modi went to Moscow for the annual summit. Russia has been a true partner for India and an important pillar of New Delhi’s foreign policy.
