Indigo Flights Cancelled: The clouds of crisis over Indigo Airlines are getting darker. In the last 24 hours, the airline canceled more than 550 flights. The country’s largest airline Indigo canceled more than 550 flights, due to which the travel plans of hundreds of passengers were disrupted and all the passengers are worried. Passengers are creating ruckus at the airport. IndiGo on Thursday sought temporary relaxation in flight duty norms from aviation regulator DGCA.

It will take 3 months to fix the problems

IndiGo told DGCA on Thursday that the operation is expected to be completely stable by February 10, 2026, which means passengers will have to face problems for 2 months, which is a very long time. IndiGo also told the regulator that there will be more cancellations till December 8 and there will be a reduction in services from that day. The airline also admitted that the flight disruptions in the last few days are mainly due to the implementation of the second phase of Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) norms, hence IndiGo has sought relaxation in the norms.

Civil Aviation Minister gave instructions

Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu held a high-level review meeting to assess the situation of major flight disruptions and expressed his displeasure over the way IndiGo implemented the new FDTL norms despite a lot of time. The minister has directed the airline to inform passengers about any possible cancellation in advance and the DGCA will carry out strict real-time monitoring of IndiGo’s operations.

Indigo is facing many problems

An airline spokesperson said in a statement, “The challenges included minor technology glitches, changes in schedules related to winter weather, inclement weather, increased congestion in aviation systems and the implementation of updated crew rostering rules (Flight Duty Time Limitation) that have had a worse impact on our operations than expected. The main reason for this is the severe shortage of crew members since the implementation of the second phase of FDTL rules, which has led to the cancellation of many flights. There are huge delays in operations at all airports due to lack of planning due to the new FDTL norms, which include increasing rest time to 48 hours a week and increasing the number of night landings to only two.
