UP BJP: Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary was made the new president of UP BJP on Sunday. Union Minister Piyush Goyal announced his name. This announcement was made in the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brijesh Pathak. Pankaj Chaudhary had filed his nomination for this post on Saturday. He was the only candidate. He submitted his nomination papers to former Union Minister and BJP State Election Officer Mahendra Nath Pandey and Central Election Observer Vinod Tawde. Adityanath, both the Deputy Chief Ministers and Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh were present during the nomination. Chaudhary, a seven-time Lok Sabha MP from Maharajganj constituency, comes from the Kurmi community. This community comes under Other Backward Class (OBC). He is considered close to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. The much awaited state president of BJP in Uttar Pradesh was finally announced on Sunday. Pankaj Chaudhary has been made the new president of UP BJP. His name has been announced after completing the election process.

Pankaj will be the fourth president from Kurmi community.

On Sunday, Union Minister Piyush Goyal announced Chaudhary’s name in the capital Lucknow. This was announced in the auditorium of Ram Manohar Lohia University campus, Lucknow. On this occasion, Central Election Observer and National General Secretary Vinod Tawde, Central Incharge of State President Election and Union Minister Piyush Goyal, State Election Officer and former Union Minister Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey announced the victory of Pankaj Chaudhary. Union Minister Piyush Goyal said that it is the strength of the organization that the party is at this position today. As soon as Piyush Goyal made the announcement, the entire auditorium echoed with applause. Bhupendra Chaudhary handed over the party flag to the newly elected president. On this occasion, 120 newly elected members of the National Council were also announced. Chaudhary will be the fourth president from the Kurmi community to file nomination for the post of 17th president of the state BJP. Before him, Vinay Katiyar, Om Prakash Singh and Swatantradev Singh have also been presidents from the same fraternity. Actually, Choudhary’s name had come up for discussion for the first time in the race for state president, but people were rejecting it on the grounds that the CM and the president cannot be from the same area.

Graduate from Gorakhpur University

If seen from the history of BJP’s organizational elections, this is the first time after the election of Laxmikant Bajpayee, when the election for the state BJP president is being formalized. With Pankaj Choudhary, who returned from central politics to state politics, becoming the state president, the interference of Purvanchal in BJP’s politics has increased. Especially Gorakhpur region has emerged as a new center of power. If seen, Yogi and Pankaj Chaudhary are the two big satraps of BJP in Gorakhpur politics. Now one of them has the command of the government and the other of the BJP organization. Pankaj Chaudhary, born on 20 November 1964 in a house located in Ghantaghar Harbansh Gali, Gorakhpur, completed his graduation from MP Inter College and Gorakhpur University.

Chaudhary was the first District Panchayat President of Maharajganj.

Born in an industrial family, Pankaj Chaudhary entered politics and became a councilor in the Municipal Corporation Gorakhpur in 1989 and became the Deputy Mayor. In Maharajganj, the political ground for Pankaj was prepared by his brother late Pradeep Chaudhary. He was the first District Panchayat President of Maharajganj. He brought Pankaj with him and installed him. Pankaj also gradually made his identity with his political understanding. In Ram Lahar, he contested Lok Sabha elections for the first time in 1991 on BJP ticket and won. After this he remained a resident of Maharajganj only. Till now, Pankaj had to face defeat only twice (1999 and 2009 Lok Sabha elections). He became the Union Minister of State for Finance for the first time in the second term of PM Narendra Modi and he got this responsibility again in the third term also.
