Goa Nightclub Fire Incident: The High Court is strict regarding the nightclub fire incident in Goa. The court said that someone should be held accountable for causing this incident.
Goa Nightclub Fire Incident : In the Goa fire case, the Goa bench of the Bombay High Court on Monday converted a civil suit filed in Birch against Romeo Lane in Arpora into Public Interest Litigation (PIL). 25 people died in the massive fire that broke out on December 6, 2025. Meanwhile, the court clearly said that in such cases someone should be held accountable. Apart from this, the court has also asked the state government to file a reply regarding the permission given to the nightclub where the unfortunate incident took place. This petition was filed by Pradeep Ghadi Amonkar and Sunil Divkar, who are the owners of the land on which this nightclub was built.
Local Panchayat did not take suo motu cognizance
Regarding this matter, the bench of Justice Sarang Kotwal and Prithviraj Chavan said that someone or the other should be held accountable for such an incident. He also said that the local panchayat did not succeed in taking suo motu cognizance of the club and did not take any action even after receiving several complaints. Apart from this, after the demolition order was given, commercial work was going on in the structure. Amonkar and Divkar’s lawyer Rohit Brass de Sa has been made amicus curiae in the case and has been asked to file a detailed affidavit in the matter. Besides, the High Court bench has also asked the Goa government to respond on the process of granting permission for such establishments.
Next hearing will be on January 8
At present the High Court has kept the next date of hearing as 8th January. At the same time, Amonkar and Divkar had emphasized on legal violations in their petition, which were not resolved despite several complaints, inspections, show-cause notices. The petition states that there has been a flagrant violation of state and national laws, but also pose an immediate threat to public safety, ecological integrity and rule of law in the state of Goa. At the same time, it is being told that after investigation by several agencies, it has been found that there were many irregularities in the club, which also includes lack of permission to run the biggest nightclub.
Luthra Brothers will be brought to Goa soon
Let us tell you that the process of bringing the main accused Saurabh Luthra and Gaurav Luthra from Thailand to India in the Goa night club fire case is in the final stages. Thai police had detained both the brothers in Phuket on 11 December. Currently he is in Suan Fu Immigration Detention Center. Due to cancellation of passport, the Indian Embassy has issued emergency travel certificate for them. Apart from this, there is no direct flight from Thailand to Goa, hence Luthra Brothers will be brought to Bangkok first from Delhi and then to Goa. It is believed that the Indian security agency will take him into custody and bring him to Delhi. It is believed that he will be brought to Delhi late Monday night or tomorrow morning i.e. Tuesday.
