Elon Musk News: French ministers have reported Grok’s post to Paris prosecutors under a provision that requires government officials to flag potential crimes.
Elon Musk News : The French government has taken major action against Elon Musk’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) chatbot Grok. Grok posted posts in French that depicted the use of gas chambers at Auschwitz and contained the names of Jewish celebrities. At the same time, Musk’s company AI Grok said in a highly viral post in French that the gas chambers at the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp were designed for disinfection with Zyklon B against typhus rather than for mass murder, and this language has long been associated with Holocaust denial. The Auschwitz Memorial highlighted the interview at X and said the response distorted historical facts. Also the platform has violated the rules.
Grok’s comments became part of the investigation
Grok’s answers to questions about Auschwitz appear to provide historically accurate information and Grok has been accused of making anti-Semitic comments. Earlier this year, Musk’s company had removed posts from the chatbot that appeared to praise Adolf Hitler after complaints of anti-Semitic content. The Paris prosecutor’s office confirmed to the AP on Friday that the Holocaust denial comments were added to an ongoing cybercrime investigation into Axe. The case began earlier this year when French authorities raised concerns that the platform’s algorithms could be used to facilitate foreign interference. Prosecutors said Groke’s comments are now part of the investigation and the way the AI works will be examined.
denying crimes against humanity
At the same time, French ministers have reported Grok’s post to the Paris prosecutor under a provision under which government officials are required to flag potential crimes. In a government statement, he clearly described AI-generated content as illegal and said it could amount to racial vilification and denial of crimes against humanity. French authorities referred the post to a national police platform for illegal online content and alerted France’s digital regulator to the suspected violation of the European Union’s Digital Services Act.
