Congress Leadership: Former Home Minister P Chidambaram’s statement on ‘Operation Blue Star’ has created a stir in the Congress. The Congress leadership believes that Chidambaram’s statement has tarnished the party’s image. The Congress leadership believes that senior leaders should exercise caution before making public statements that could cause embarrassment to the party. Sources gave this information on Sunday. Chidambaram, speaking at a literary event in Kasauli on Saturday, said Operation Blue Star was wrong and the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi paid the price for her mistake with her life. Party sources said that the Congress leadership believes that senior leaders, who have got everything from the Congress party, should be more careful in making statements that can cause embarrassment to the party. They should not make a habit of making embarrassing statements.
Called the comment shameful for the party
He said that senior leaders should make public statements carefully as their repeated statements create problems for the party which is not right. Sources said that the top party leadership and the entire party are extremely upset. All the party workers are distressed as to why this is happening again and again. This was said in the context of Chidambaram who has recently made some comments embarrassing the party. Speaking at the Khushwant Singh Literature Festival in Kasauli, Himachal Pradesh, Chidambaram said there was a way to bring back and capture all the terrorists, but Operation Blue Star was the wrong way.
Indira alone is not responsible for the decision
Rajya Sabha MP Chidambaram, during a conversation with journalist and author Harinder Baweja on her book ‘They Will Shoot You Madam: My Life Through Conflict’, said that there was a way to bring back and capture all the terrorists, but Operation Blue Star was the wrong way and I agree that Mrs. Gandhi paid the price of this mistake with her life, but this mistake was a joint decision of the Army, Intelligence Department, Police and Civil Defense. You cannot entirely blame Mrs. Gandhi. Operation Blue Star was a military operation conducted between June 1 and June 10, 1984, to expel Damdami Taksal leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and his militants from the Golden Temple complex in Amritsar. Indira Gandhi was assassinated by her Sikh bodyguards on October 31, 1984.
