Telangana News: PM Modi inaugurated GMR Aerospace and Industrial Park-SEZ Saffron located at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad. He said that the government has focused on strengthening the MRO ecosystem.

Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) for GMR Aerospace and Industrial Park-SEZ Saffron at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad has now officially started. It was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi through video conferencing and during this, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Wednesday appealed to PM Modi to declare the Bengaluru-Hyderabad stretch as a defense and aerospace corridor. Also, CM Reddy said that last year, exports from Telangana in the aerospace and defense sector have doubled, reaching more than Rs 30 thousand crore in just 9 months, which is more than pharma exports.

PM invited to 2047 Global Summit

Telangana has received the Aerospace Award from the Civil Aviation Ministry. Also, skill development is a very important criterion to attract aerospace investment. CM Reddy said that I am requesting Prime Minister Modi to declare the Bengaluru-Hyderabad stretch as a defense and aerospace corridor. He also said that the Telangana government is building Bharat Future City on 30 thousand acres of land. Let us tell you that CM Reddy invited everyone including Prime Minister Modi to the Telangana Rising 2047 Global Summit, which will be held on December 8 and 9 at Bharat Future City.

Will prove to be a milestone

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said that the MRO facility of French major Safran for LEAP engines used in commercial aircraft will prove to be a milestone in the growth of Telangana in the aerospace and defense sector. The facility setup was virtually inaugurated by the Prime Minister in Hyderabad. After this, Revanth Reddy, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu, Telangana Minister Sridhar Babu and others participated in the foundation stone laying ceremony of the new MRO unit built for the M88 engine used in Rafale aircraft at GMR Aero Park near Shamshabad.

MRO work was done in foreign countries

After virtually inaugurating, PM Modi said that 85 percent of India’s MRO work was still done abroad, due to which huge costs were incurred. Also, many aircraft had to be kept grounded for long periods. But now the government has focused a lot on strengthening the MRO ecosystem.
