Bihar Election 2025: Before the voting in Bihar elections, the Election Commission has come into action mode and has directed the Enforcement Directorate to take action to stop cash being used to lure voters in the state. Apart from this, people have also been asked to keep an eye on people offering liquor and other inducements in Bihar. The Election Commission said that this meeting was organized to prepare a comprehensive roadmap to deal with the harmful effects of cash and other inducements in elections. Various agencies gave inputs to complete the preparations of the Commission. The commission said that several topics related to curbing the use of money and other inducements to distort elections were discussed.

Ban on movement of cash and liquor

The Commission directed that for effective action, there should be intelligence exchange and cooperation on economic crimes between the agencies. It laid emphasis in every enforcement agency at various levels like national, state and district level. The Election Commission has directed the agencies to stop smuggling of goods, narcotics, liquor and cash and has also asked them to take action. The agencies have been asked to ensure zero-tolerance policy for free and fair elections in Bihar. The Election Commission discussed the strategy to curb secret expenditure by candidates and political parties with a view to ensure proactive and preventive action by every law enforcement agency during elections.

Instructions given to share intelligence information

Apart from this, emphasis was also laid on cooperation between law enforcement agencies and sharing of intelligence on economic crimes for effective action. Besides, Bihar also shares its international border with Nepal and that is why the materials coming from there are facing some difficulties for the Commission. On the other hand, the Election Commission has given strict instructions that any attempt to influence the elections through money power and free gifts will not be tolerated at all. On the other hand, the committee formed by the Commission for agencies includes 17 departments – CBDT, CBIC, ED, DRI, CEIB, FIU-IND, RBI, IBA, NCB, RPF, CISF, BSF, CRPF, SSB, BCAS, AAI and Postal Department.
