If there is no respectable partnership then we may part ways: JMM

Bihar Politics: JMM is ready to contest on at least 12 assembly seats in Bihar elections as an ally of INDIA BLOC.

Bihar Politics: A senior Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader on Saturday said that if respectable seats are not allotted to the party by INDIA BLOC by October 14, the party will take its decision on the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. He said that JMM is ready to contest at least 12 assembly seats in Bihar elections as an ally of INDIA Bloc. JMM’s central general secretary and spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya, while addressing the media persons here, said that we are with the Grand Alliance and will contest the elections in the alliance. We urge the leaders of the Grand Alliance in Bihar to declare JMM’s share in the alliance as soon as possible, as the nomination process has started.

JMM preparation completed

He said that the Central Committee meeting of JMM is going to be held on October 15. Bhattacharya said that hence our seats should be allotted by then. Otherwise we are free to take our decision in the Central Committee meeting. We are an independent political party and will not sit idly by. He said that JMM knows how to fight elections strongly, especially against BJP. He said that we do not want any kind of confusion among the alliance partners, because this can give an opportunity to others to take advantage. Therefore, we want everything to be resolved by our Central Committee meeting. There are many seats in Bihar where if we do not help them and our leaders do not campaign, it will cause huge loss to the Grand Alliance. Bihar Assembly elections will be held on 6 and 11 November and counting of votes will take place on 14 November.

We followed the alliance dharma: Bhattacharya

He said that the party has also completed its preparations for Bihar elections. He said that in Jharkhand elections, JMM had given a respectable share to its alliance partners Congress, RJD, CPI (ML) L. Bhattacharya said that hence we expect respectable seats for JMM also in Bihar elections. He said that in the 2019 Jharkhand Assembly elections, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) was given seven seats, but it could win only one Chatra seat. Bhattacharya said that but we made not a single RJD MLA a minister in the coalition government in Jharkhand for five years. In the 2024 elections, we gave five percent seats in Jharkhand i.e. six to RJD. One of the four members who won the election was made a minister following the coalition principle.
