She is also credited with directing that one-third of the seats in bar associations, including the Supreme Court Bar Association, be reserved for women. Justice Kant was part of the bench that formed a five-member committee led by former top court judge Justice Indu Malhotra to investigate the security breach during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Punjab in 2022 and had said that such cases require a “judicially trained mind”.
He also justified the One Rank-One Pension Scheme for the Defense Force, calling it constitutionally valid and continued hearing the petition demanding equality in the permanent commission of women officers in the Armed Forces. Justice Kant was on the seven-judge bench that overturned the 1967 Aligarh Muslim University decision, opening the way for a reconsideration of the minority status of the institution. He was also part of the bench that heard the Pegasus spyware case.
