Cough Syrup Incident : Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Kamal Nath on Sunday met the families in Chhindwara whose children died due to contaminated cough syrup. He claimed that the children died also due to the negligence of the administration, which did not do its work on time. Congress MLA from Chhindwara held Madhya Pradesh directly responsible for the death of more than 22 children. He alleged that this medicine made in Tamil Nadu was allowed to be used without any investigation. Demanded strictest punishment to those responsible for this tragedy. Let us tell you that Kamal Nath, who was a 9-time MLA from Chhindwara, said that the victims should get a compensation of at least Rs 50 lakh.
Government’s attitude is insensitive
In a post from Kamalnath X account, he wrote that he visited Parasia in Chhindwara district and met the families of children who died after drinking cough syrup. He said that after meeting the victims’ families, tears welled up in my eyes. This is not just a case related to poisonous cough syrup but also a case of murders due to administrative negligence. While discussing with the media, Kamal Nath claimed that the attitude of the state government still remains insensitive in the matter of death of children after drinking poisonous syrup. In response to a media question, the former Chief Minister said that I had demanded from the government that Rs 50 lakh each should be given to the families of all the deceased children.
22 children had died
The former Chief Minister said that the most sad thing in this matter is that the government has not taken resignation from any officer. 22 children died in Madhya Pradesh, most of whom are residents of Parasia in Chhindwara district. Also, one has died so far due to suspected kidney failure after drinking the now banned Coldrif cough syrup manufactured in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu. Apart from this, some children are undergoing treatment in the neighboring state of Maharashtra. Many children from Chhindwara were taken to a hospital in Nagpur, about 150 km from here, for advanced health care and were told that they died due to kidney failure.
