Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge: Three decades have passed, but whenever a heroine runs and the hero extends his hand, we remember only one film and that is ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’. Made under the direction of Aditya Chopra, this film was released in the year 1995. Even after 30 years, its last train scene remains the most iconic romantic moment in the history of cinema. When Simran, running away, moves towards her secret and Amrish Puri speaks the dialogue – ‘Ja Simran ja, jee le apni zindagi’, then it became not just a scene of the film but an emotion.

Simran and Raj’s love story

The interesting thing is that the story of DDLJ starts on a train and ends on the train itself. The scene of the first meeting of Kajol and Shahrukh Khan in the film became so memorable that Bollywood kept repeating it again and again. Sometimes in romance, sometimes in comedy and sometimes with a modern twist. Shahrukh Khan himself recreated this scene in ‘Chennai Express’ released in 2013. Director Rohit Shetty, who is a fan of DDLJ, had included this scene in his film as a tribute.

Love stories that became hits

Karna Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor’s superhit film ‘Jab We Met’ was released in the year 2007. In this film, the story of Geet and Aditya also starts in the train. Apart from this, there was a train scene of Ajay Devgan and Sonakshi Sinha in ‘Son of Sardar’. This film, released in the year 2012, was liked a lot by the people. In Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor’s film ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’, the story of both of them starts from the train itself. After this both go on the journey of love, friendship and happy ending. Ayushmann Khurrana and Jitendra Kumar’s same-gender love story ‘Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan’ was released in the year 2020. The train scene was repeated in this film also. Apart from all this, train scenes were also presented in their own style in films like ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’ and ‘Half Girlfriend’. However, ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge’ is something else.
