CM Yogi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday appealed to the people to help those who are unable to light lamps or buy sweets on Diwali. While visiting a colony of Nishad community in Abhiramdas ward of Ayodhya, Yogi Adityanath said that when Lord Ram was going to the forest with Goddess Sita and Lord Lakshman, it was Nishadraj who first helped Lord Ram. He was the first person with whom Lord Rama befriended. This friendship has been going on since Treta Yuga (era of Lord Rama). The Nishad community includes dozens of riverine castes in North India and is considered an extremely backward caste (EBC).
Light lamps, share happiness
Yogi said its lineage is linked to Nishadraj, who is said to have helped Lord Rama cross the Saryu river in the Ramayana. Yogi Adityanath said that a grand festival of lights is organized to carry forward this “memory of Treta Yuga”. He said that Deepotsav is today’s Diwali, and we all become a part of this festival. The Chief Minister appealed to the people of Uttar Pradesh to light lamps in every house. He said that if a person is not able to light a lamp due to lack, then help him.
