Opposition is using Muslims as vote bank: CM

Bihar Election 2025: Amidst Bihar elections, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar recalled past incidents to woo Muslim votes. During this he said that the opposition is only using Muslims for vote bank.

Bihar Election 2025 : To woo the voters in Bihar, all the political parties have started the election campaign and with this the round of allegations and counter-allegations has also started. The ruling and the opposition are holding rallies at different places, where they are attacking each other fiercely. In this series, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also targeted the INDIA block. On Saturday, he accused the leaders of opposition parties of using him as a vote bank by portraying themselves as Muslim sympathisers. CM Nitish claimed that opposition leaders are adopting various tactics to get the votes of the minority community, but no one is ready to give them representation.

NDA government gave proper representation

Chief Minister Nitish wrote on his X account that when elections are coming, some people (leaders of opposition parties) are again trying to portray themselves as well-wishers of the Muslim community. This is all fraud and they are just using Muslims as vote bank. He is considering using the minorities in any way, but is not making any policy to bring them into the mainstream. He said that in the NDA government, the minority community is getting proper representation in every field and they are being given opportunities in every field without any discrimination. Also, if we look at the record of previous governments, they have used them only for vote bank politics. Nitish Kumar said that I would urge the community not to fall into the trap of his promises.

Our government stopped communal riots

The JDU supremo said that before 2005, no work was done for Muslims in the state and there used to be communal clashes in the state. When we came to power on November 24, 2005, steps were taken for the overall development of the Muslim community. In 2025-26, the budget of the Minority Welfare Department was increased by 306 times and a provision of Rs 1080.47 crore was made annually. The Chief Minister highlighted the need to continuously reduce communal incidents.

Apart from this, 1,273 additional sites were identified for fencing more than 8,000 cemeteries in the state since 2006, of which 746 have been completed. Also, when we got the opportunity to serve for the first time, we conducted an impartial investigation into the Bhagalpur communal riots of 1989 and got the strictest punishment against the culprits. Besides, the victims were also given compensation by the government. Apart from this, pension arrangements were also made for the riot affected families.
