PM Modi On 150 Years of National Song : Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the year-long commemoration of 150 years of the national song Vande Mataram and also released a commemorative postage stamp and coin at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium. The event marks the formal beginning of a year-long nationwide commemoration to be observed from 7 November 2025 to 7 November 2026. Let us tell you that in this commemoration, the completion of 150 years of that classic composition will be celebrated which inspired India’s independence movement and has played an important role in maintaining national pride and unity.

What did PM Modi say

On this special occasion, PM Modi said that Vande Mataram, this word is a mantra, an energy, a dream, a resolution. Vande Mataram, these words are the worship of Mother India, the worship of Mother India. These words take us to history. This fills the recent times with new confidence and gives new courage to our future that there is no resolution which cannot be achieved, there is no goal which we Indians cannot achieve.

The PM further said that group singing of Vande Mataram is an indescribable experience. In so many voices – one rhythm, one tone, one emotion, one thrill and flow, such energy, such a wave has shaken the heart. This wonderful experience of this collective singing of Vande Mataram is truly beyond expression. 7th November 2025 is a very historical day. In such a situation, we all together are celebrating the 150th year of ‘Vande Mataram’. This auspicious occasion will give us new inspiration and fill millions of countrymen with new energy.

PM paid respectful tribute

On this special occasion, PM Modi has said that today I respectfully salute the millions of great men of the country, the children of Mother India, for sacrificing their lives for Vande Mataram and heartily congratulate the countrymen. In that period of slavery, ‘Vande Mataram’ had become a proclamation of the resolve that the chains of slavery would be broken by the hands of Mother India of India’s independence! His children will become the masters of their own destiny!

This song is relevant in every era

Addressing the public meeting, PM Modi further said that Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore had once said that Bankimchandra’s ‘Anandmath’ is not just a novel, it is a dream of independent India. The theme of ‘Vande Mataram’ in ‘Anandamath’, every line of it, every word and every gesture of Bankim Babu, all had their own deep implications and are there even today. This song was composed during the period of slavery, but its words were never imprisoned under the shadow of slavery. He always remained free from the memories of slavery. Because of this, ‘Vande Mataram’ is relevant in every era and every era.
