I salute the land of Bihar. BJP, as a constituent of NDA, surprised everyone by releasing its first list of 71 candidates for the assembly elections on Tuesday. BJP has canceled the ticket of Assembly Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav, who was a seven-time MLA, while after more than a decade, it has fielded Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary in the direct elections. Health and Law Minister Mangal Pandey, who is a member of the Legislative Council, has also been fielded by the party for the assembly elections. Chaudhary, who last won the assembly elections from Parbatta in 2010 on an RJD ticket, has been fielded from neighboring Tarapur, while Pandey has been made the BJP candidate from Siwan. It is noteworthy that both Chaudhary and Pandey are former state BJP presidents.
