The routes of many important trains were changed. Railway officials said that repair work is going on on the Mathura-Delhi railway line on Wednesday after the derailment of a coal-laden goods train. Due to which dozens of trains were affected. On Tuesday night, 12 wagons of a goods train laden with coal derailed between Vrindavan Road and Ajhai stations. Agra Division’s PRO Prashasti Srivastava said that immediately after the accident, the operation of all trains on this route was stopped. However, traffic was first restored on the fourth line during the night. After this, there was partial movement of trains in both directions on the third line at around 7 am on Wednesday morning.
GM and DRM reached the spot
He said that massive efforts are being made to restore all the four railway lines. He said that operations on the affected railway section are expected to be fully restored by Wednesday evening. Passengers had to face a lot of problems due to disruption in train operations. PRO Srivastava said that North Central Railway General Manager Naresh Pal Singh and Divisional Railway Manager Gagan Goyal reached the spot immediately after the incident and are personally monitoring the repair work. He said that the overhead electric (OHE) lines are being repaired and the remaining two lines will be made operational within a few hours. Officials said that the goods train carrying about 5,500 metric tonnes of coal in 58 coaches was going from Bilaspur to Hisar when 12 coaches derailed. PRO Srivastava said that the reason for the derailment has not been known yet.
All trains going to Delhi diverted
He said that no instructions have been issued yet regarding the investigation. Senior officials can take decisions after the repair work is completed. Due to this incident which happened on Tuesday night, the movement of trains on the busy Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Kota routes was badly affected. There is no news of anyone being injured. Immediately after the derailment, Western Railways was asked to divert all Delhi-bound trains except Mumbai-New Delhi Rajdhani Express through Ratlam-Ajmer-Rewari route. Trains originating from Delhi and going towards Western and West Central zones were diverted towards Rewari-Alwar-Jaipur-Kota, while trains going towards Bina were sent via Ghaziabad-Mitavali-Agra Cantt-Bina. Apart from this, eight major trains were canceled completely or partially.
