Yogi Adityanath: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday reviewed the preparations for the annual Kartik Purnima fair in Garhmukteshwar in Hapur district and Tigri fair in Amroha. Yogi directed the officials to ensure that these events are conducted smoothly, safely and with full coordination between the departments. After conducting an aerial survey of the grounds, the Chief Minister held a review meeting. Describing this event as a ‘mini Kumbh’, he said that every year about 40 to 45 lakh devotees come to the Ganga ghats for holy bath and lamp donation. He stressed that all the arrangements should be completed on time so that no devotee is inconvenienced. Adityanath said this year’s fair will be organized as a ‘mini Kumbh’ and will become a symbol of faith, discipline and cleanliness. He directed to give top priority to traffic, safety, cleanliness, health, drinking water and lighting.

Emphasis on security and coordination system

Emphasizing the need for foolproof security, the Chief Minister ordered the deployment of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) on the Ganga Ghats, and to ensure continuous monitoring through CCTV and drones. He said that rescue boats and helpline centers should also be set up. Adityanath directed officials to ensure a complete ban on single-use plastic and link the fair with the message of cleanliness and environment protection. Apart from this, he ordered to install adequate checker plates on the ghats, timely completion of dredging work in erosion-prone areas by the Irrigation Department and testing the feasibility of pontoon bridges. Directing to pay special attention to crowd management, he said that counseling sessions should be organized to promote disciplined behavior among the devotees and constant monitoring should be maintained through CCTV, public address system and an integrated control centre. He said that parking, vehicle safety and cleanliness should be managed efficiently. Adityanath also ordered that temporary toilets be equipped with zero liquid discharge systems.

The fair will run from 30 October to 5 November

He directed the departments to provide changing rooms, adequate lighting, safe power connections and uninterrupted power supply during the entire fair. He directed that the fair area should be decorated in an attractive manner and hoardings giving information about government welfare schemes should be displayed. He said that adequate fire protection systems, temporary hospitals, anti-snake venom and anti-rabies vaccines should be available. The Chief Minister directed that traffic diversion schemes should be effectively implemented within a radius of 20-25 kilometers to prevent congestion. Highlighting the ancient spiritual importance of Garhmukteshwar, Adityanath said that this fair is a symbol of faith, spirituality and cultural heritage of Uttar Pradesh. It is believed that Lord Parshuram had established the Mukteshwar Mahadev Temple here. Lakhs of devotees are expected to come to the week-long Garhmukteshwar fair from October 30 to November 5 for bathing, lamp donation and Pitru Tarpan on the banks of the holy Ganga at Brij Ghat and Mukteshwar Ghat.
