Karnataka News: A delegation of nomadic community association in Karnataka demanded from the government that reservation should be given to them to integrate them into the mainstream. On this, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that this issue will be considered.
Karnataka News : People of the nomadic community in the country have to face many challenges regarding employment and other rights. This mainly includes laborers who go anywhere in search of employment. Many times the government ignores them and they do not get the benefits of the government’s welfare schemes. Meanwhile, the demand for giving reservation to this community has arisen in Karnataka. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday reiterated his government’s commitment to ensure social justice for the nomadic community and said that the demand for giving one percent reservation will be examined and appropriate steps will be taken if necessary.
The government will definitely consider the proposal
A delegation of officials of the Nomadic Community Association met the Chief Minister at Vidhan Soudha and also submitted a memorandum demanding internal reservation. Responding to this proposal, CM Siddaramaiah assured that the government will seriously consider their concerns. He said that the government is committed to ensuring social justice for the nomadic community and will definitely consider how to give them one percent reservation. He further said that our government has implemented SCP/TSP (Scheduled Caste Scheme/Tribe Sub-Plan) programs for the upliftment of Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST).
Retired Justice Nagmohan Das demanded
Siddaramaiah said that the aim of the government is that any community which is outside the mainstream should definitely get justice. The government never intends to do injustice by mixing one caste with another. If any other options can be considered then the government will ensure that justice is provided. He further said that the government has made serious efforts to provide internal reservation and is now committed to solving the new problems that have arisen on priority basis. The delegation has urged the Chief Minister to give separate priority to one percent reservation for nomadic communities as per the recommendations of retired Justice Nagmohan Das. He also demanded the formation of a separate corporation and a special economic package for this community.
