Election Commission: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday made a big allegation against the Election Commission regarding SIR. He accused the BJP government and the Election Commission of conspiring to remove the names of more than 50,000 voters from each assembly constituency. Said that names of voters would be removed from those places where his party had performed well. At present, Special Intensive Review (SIR) is being conducted by the Election Commission in the entire Uttar Pradesh. Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters on the birth anniversary of his father Mulayam Singh Yadav, he said that we have received information that in Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal, BJP is making big preparations in collusion with the Election Commission. The Samajwadi Party chief said that SIR should not be done during the wedding season.
The time limit for SIR should be extended
Demanded that the Election Commission extend the deadline for SIR in Uttar Pradesh. Citing election data, he said that BJP, which won 255 seats in the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, was ahead in only 162 assembly constituencies in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. On the other hand, SP had won 111 assembly seats in 2022. The party had gained lead in 183 constituencies in last year’s general elections. He said that Congress had won only two assembly seats in 2022. But Congress gained lead in 40 assembly constituencies in the general elections. Pointing to the figures, Yadav alleged that BJP brought SIR as a conspiracy after losing ground. He claimed that we expected impartiality from the Election Commission, but its role in the recent by-elections in Uttar Pradesh has raised concerns. We lodged several complaints, but no action was taken.
SP workers are alert
Yadav also said that the BJP government and the Election Commission are preparing to remove the names of more than 50,000 voters in each assembly constituency won by the SP or India Bloc using the pretext of SIR. This is happening in Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. We are alert. The Samajwadi Party chief further claimed that the BJP and the Election Commission are mainly focusing on Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal after the 2024 Lok Sabha election results. He urged party officials and workers to carefully verify voter lists, meet booth level officials, ensure inclusion of eligible voters and immediately report any irregularities to the party headquarters. He said that 414 days are left for the elections. There is a conspiracy to remove more than 50,000 votes in every assembly constituency of UP. Samajwadi Party workers are fully prepared to foil this.
