After six months of anti-Naxal operation in the Karregutta hills on the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border, security forces have set up a new security and public convenience camp. This camp, built near Tadpala village in Usoor police station area of ​​Bijapur district, was a safe haven for senior Maoists for a long time. Officials said that the camp will provide basic facilities along with security to the surrounding villagers. Besides, the activities of Maoists in the area will also be curbed.

In April-May this year, central and state security forces launched a massive 21-day operation in the dense forests surrounding the Karregutta hills. During this period the forces eliminated 31 Naxalites. The security forces also seized 35 weapons, 450 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and a large number of detonators and other equipment, besides 12,000 kg of other material, which included medical supplies, electrical equipment, Naxal literature etc. In this regard, the officer said that the new camp will serve as a forward operating base for the 196th and 205th battalions of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Cobra battalion. He said that this camp will help the security forces to curb Maoist activities in the border area. Through the camp, essential services like roads, electricity, drinking water, health facilities, schools, PDS (Public Distribution System) outlets, mobile connectivity and Anganwadi centers will also be available to the villagers in the area.

Special training to security forces in the camp

Joint teams of District Reserve Guard, STF, both units of state police, 205th and 210th battalions of Cobra and 196th battalion of CRPF will be deployed in the camp. The official said the security forces displayed extraordinary courage while setting up the camp, overcoming difficult terrain, constant threat of IEDs and ambushes. He said that helicopter surveillance was carried out during the entire process. Senior officials visited the camp from time to time to monitor and guide the teams. The official said the location will also be developed as a special training center for jungle warfare, field craft, tactics and other practical training modules aimed at enhancing operational capabilities in insurgency-hit areas.

Joint operation will run on Chhattisgarh-Telangana border

An official said that a joint operation will be conducted from Tadpala to Chhattisgarh-Telangana border. He told that on November 11, senior officials of the state police and CRPF visited the camp. Interacted with the personnel and congratulated them for successfully completing the work under difficult circumstances. CRPF Director General Gyanendra Pratap Singh along with senior CoBRA and state police officials visited the camp on November 20-21 and stayed there overnight, which boosted the morale of the forces, the official said. He said that since the establishment of the camp in the area, 14 IEDs were recovered and defused by the bomb disposal teams.
