In this context, SIR of the ongoing voter list in Gujarat has revealed that more than 17 lakh dead voters are still included in the current voter list across the state. This has been said in a release from the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO).

More than 6.14 lakh voters were found missing from their addresses. It was observed that more than 30 lakh voters are gone forever,” the release said. The release said that the BLO found more than 3.25 lakh voters in the “repeated” category, which means their names were at more than one place.
Digitization process continues
According to the release issued on Thursday, the SIR exercise in Gujarat began on November 4 with the distribution of counting forms by booth-level officers (BLOs) in their assigned areas. This campaign will run till December 11. It said, “In the last one month, counting forms have been distributed to more than five crore voters registered in the 2025 Voter List. In most of the 33 districts, 100% distribution work has been completed. Currently, the work of digitizing the returned forms is underway. Ruckus continues in Bengal
Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee targeted BJP over SIR and claimed that more than half of the dead voters revealed in SIR are Hindus. During a rally in Murshidabad, Banerjee alleged that the BJP was doing religious politics ahead of the 2026 assembly elections and was cutting the branch on which it was sitting.
